Folks of Rajasthan have found interesting ways to celebrate their culture and such lively traditions attract curious travellers from around the world. One such city of India that’s full of variety in style is Pushkar. It is a fascinating town, thanks to a legacy of ageless architectural heritage. The town is a treasure trove of essence of the legendary roses that are distributed across the world. Pushkar is called the “Rose Garden of Rajasthan”. Itinerary Of Pushkar Mela

The Pushkar Festival is a five-day celebration of the camel festival which takes place in the city of Pushkar. It generally occurs during the sensible climate on days between October and November. Locally known as Pushkar Fair or ‘Pushkar Mela’, it is also one of the most bizarre fairs in the world. Apart from the purchase and sale of animals, it also serves as a key tourist destination. The major attractions of the fair include a a couple of competitions. These are startling events like the ‘Moustache Competition’, ‘Bridal Competition’, the ‘Longest Moustache’ and the ‘Matka Phod’ (breaking the pot) competition. Much recently, the event has also included an international football match. It happens between the teams of Pushkar local Club and a squad of global tourists who visit this fair during the time.

‘Pushkar Mela Maidan’ organizes this celebration. The most recent moustache contest in the Pushkar fair. This was conducted in 2019 where 11 men from all over the country participated in the competition. The moustache contest winner of 2019 was a milkman from Baran district. Ishwar Singh from Pali district secured the second place. The participants passionately show off their long and thick moustaches and beards. They loudly sing various names, songs and greetings of their respective cities or towns. This becomes one of the liveliest moments of the fair. The musical beats tempt all the tourists to dance on these musical beats and gather along for a fun dance.

Best Time For Pushkar Fair

The enormous show attracts up to 300,000 spectators and up to 20,000 camels, animals and horses. If you are planning your trip to Rajasthan this winter, don’t forget to visit this beautiful and fun event. Since this fair attracts a huge crowd and many attendants from all over the country as well as the world, it is advisable that you get ahead in the unique preparations and arrive at Pushkar well in advance. Pushkar’s Notable Tourist Attractions

Pushkar is notable also because it is home to the only temple in the world dedicated to Bramha, the hindu deity. Legends and ancestors say that Brahma, the Creator of the Earth, launched the formation of Pushkar. This contributes to the mythology of the city.
