Do you look at beautiful chikankari kurtas and fine integrated designs on suits and sarees and wonder. Have you ever thought how skilled you have to be to create something so unique. Embroidered clothes whether simple cushion covers or detailed dupattas are one of the most high paid pieces of cloth. To give our Circle Members the experience to learn and enlighten themselves about this integrated art form, Rajasthan Studio curated a special and simple Contemporary Embroidery Workshop and invited Naushin Kaipally.
Naushin Kaipally is a graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology with a specialization in Surface Design. She has her own Handmade apparel and accessories label “BAARI”. Through her label she promotes traditional artisans from around the country and adds value to handmade products.
Contemporary Embroidery Workshop Began
The workshop began with Naushin giving us a short introduction of herself and her work. She moved forward showing us how to fit a fabric in a fabric hoop which keeps the fabric in place. Next, she explained about the embroidery threads and the different types of stitching that will be used for the embroidery.
The workshop moved forward with Naushin starting with the embroidery lines and explaining each step precisiously as all the attendees followed her carefully. With each pattern she answered all questions related to the artwork, giving references for later utilization by the attendees.
Towards The End Of The Workshop
While moving towards the end Naushin had a conversation about the history of embroidery art and how it has lost its value with time. She advised everyone to save this artform and to promote it towards its lost glory. The workshop ended with everyone showcasing their work.
The attendees were also from different parts of the country. Also, they belonged to different age groups but their love for art brought them together on a single platform. Rajasthan studio as always was successful in connecting artists and curating a magical and positive vibe together.
On this note, here’s us signing off until next time!
