Mrs. Rukmani ji and Mrs. Sushila ji are a talented mother-daughter duo dedicated to the intricate art of cane and bamboo crafting. Their family has embraced this traditional art form for over 80-90 years, passing down skills and techniques through generations. Working from their home, they skilfully create a variety of beautiful and functional items. Their craftsmanship not only showcases the versatility of cane and bamboo but also reflects a deep-rooted love for preserving cultural heritage while adapting to modern design aesthetics.

Cane and bamboo crafts are among India’s oldest and most versatile traditional handicrafts, rooted in the culture of rural artisans. These eco-friendly materials, abundant in forests, are skilfully transformed into a variety of functional and decorative items, from woven baskets and furniture to home décor. The natural texture and lightness of the materials helps artisans weave and shape them easily. This craft exemplifies sustainable design and holds significant cultural value, particularly in regions like Assam, Tripura, and Kerala.
