Rajasthan Fabrics In Movies: The region hails an ancient cultural background that reflects the traditions of India. We see skilled craftsmanship throughout Rajasthan – the grandeur in terms of architecture seen in palaces and forts, crafts that display delicacy and intricacy of the textiles. Hence, there is a variety of authentic traditional music and dance throughout the region.

PK (2014)
Firstly, the persona of Pk played by Aamir Khan pertains to a set of entities are unaware of dressing, religion, or verbal communication. Then, a scenario from one of the first ensembles curated by Pk, the alien, after landing on planet earth. He sports a bright yellow embroidered women’s ghagra, a man’s white shirt and beige jacket styled with a radio around his neck. He learned the difference between gender and to distinguish the male and female attire. Therefore,there are snippets of Pk wearing traditional Angrakhas in red accessorized with colorful leheriya style fabrics pagri safas (traditional turbans) and silver lac jewelry as well.
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) & Badrinath Ki dulhania (2017)
The costumes from the movie are very colorful and bright. Keeping it simple, block printed or plain kurtas with beautiful sombre lehariya or bandhani fabric scarfs is the styling of this movie. Bright brocades in most of the apparel was shown. The black trendsetting lehenga choli and other looks have revolutionized.
Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania, sports an Ambala girl from a small town who is chirpy. She is hell-bent to wear designer lehenga for her wedding. Also throughout the movie, Vaidehi wears simple salwar kameez paired with fabrics like bandhani and leheriya dupattas. Kaideyo styled mirror jackets and jholas are further accessorized. Mainly oxidized accessories and juttis with poms-poms also are seen.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)
The movie throws light on a variety of crafts through the garments. All the characters depict a narrative through their traditional clothing, fabrics and accessories. The overall look is traditional yet contemporary keeping the styles sophisticated. Kundan work is prominent on most of the lehangas in the movie. Traditional Gota patti work, anarkalis, highlighting chiffon sarees the most. However, the entire look is accompanied by large diamond solitaires and stunning jadau pieces.
Shuddh Desi Romance (2013)
In the movie Shuddh Desi Romance, the characteristic look of the actors is the style of commoners. Shot around the pink city the color scheme is multicolored and floral or geometric print fabrics apparels. Hence, the style is a mix of contemporary garments together – shirts and lehenga with accessories. Kurtas are worn over jeans accessorized with lehariya dupattas.
Lagaan (2001)
Lagaan: Once upon a time in time, is a periodic drama based on Victorian India. The costumes of all the Indian characters show the use of the traditional Rajasthani style of dressing. Lamhe (1991)

Jodha Akbar (2008)
A tale from the 16th century where a political alliance turned into a love affair. The authentic costume study for the traditional styles is done using the painting of the era. The silhouettes of the garments are intact. There is mention of the Rajput style and Mughal style which speaks about the entire look. Heavy brocade, embroidered fabrics, sheer fabrics with embroidery is widely seen. The final look is embellished using heavy jewels with various types of precious stones.

Throughout the movie the traditional outfits are seen – the lehenga choli and the kediya accessories with heavy dupattas and scarves. The entire look is further enchanted with the rustic authentic jewelery adding the traditional charm.
Dhanak (2015)
The two children experience the Rajasthani exotica throughout the 300km journey planned to meet SRK. They witness the undulating dunes, the camels, colorful turbans and tribal women and their traditional Rajasthani costumes. The narrative of the movie is along the desert meeting various people.
Khoobsurat (2014)
The Royal Misfit, the actors are seen wearing very peculiar contemporized traditional looks. The narrative of clothing is kept very quirky and edgy. Multicoloured patchwork clothing, lehariya and bandhini scarfs or apparels are paired to create various looks. The traditional Bandhgala styled suit is seen in most of the scenes.
