Bhawani Shankar Sharma

Bhawani Shankar Sharma is a professional Fresco artist and teacher and has received many awards for his work. He is the Former Chairman of Lalit Kala Academy and also received 6 awards from them. With his work, he has been able to bring the rich history of the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi into the present day and maintain it there for future generations to enjoy. He has trained students from countries like Italy, France, Switzerland, UK, and USA. His work has been exhibited in various national and international exhibitions, and mentioned in many books. He has contributed a lot to the arts field and due to his works, Fresco painting (Arayash) from Jaipur is still popular.

Jaipur is known for a wide variety of art forms, one of them being Fresco painting, also known as Arayash, Alagila, and Morakasi  Arayash is a distinguished art form with a rich history and massive aesthetic value. The word fresco comes from the adjective fresco, which in Italian stands for “fresh.” Fresco painting is always done freshly prepared wall surface. A lot of these Fresco (Arayash) paintings can be found in temples, forts and palaces in Jaipur, Amer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Shekhawati, Bikaner, Nagaur, Kota, and Bundi, etc. After finishing, the surface of the Fresco wall paintings is much smoother and polished as compared to normal wall paintings.
