Experience the Heritage of Bikaner: Join Our Bikaner City Walk!
Walk through the old lanes of Bikaner and see how the city’s royal past and everyday life blend together. The Bikaner City Walk takes you from grand gateways and ancient temples to bustling chowks and colourful bazaars. Every turn offers a glimpse of the city’s history… from its days as a desert trade hub to the cultural centre it remains today. You’ll explore sandstone havelis, quiet shrines, and markets filled with crafts and sweets that still carry the legacy of royal patronage. It’s an easy-paced walk that lets you see, feel, and understand Bikaner the local way.
Highlight of the Experience
- Start at the City’s Historic Gate: Begin at Kote Gate, the grand arch that once guarded the old city. It’s where Bikaner’s story of trade and tradition began, and even today, it sets the tone for the city’s vibrant life filled with shops, chatter, and the scent of fresh snacks.
- See the Grandeur of Rampuria Haveli: Walk down narrow lanes to witness the red sandstone havelis that define Bikaner’s charm. These mansions, carved with intricate detail, showcase the wealth and artistry of the merchants who shaped the city’s identity centuries ago.
- Pause at Temples and Chowks: Find moments of calm at small temples that hold deep meaning for the locals. In between, the chowks come alive with conversations, colours, and a rhythm that feels timeless — the same way the city has pulsed for generations.
- Stroll Through the Markets: From the busy Mohta Chowk to the endless stretch of Bada Bazar, walk through lanes where fabrics, sweets, and souvenirs fill every corner. It’s the perfect way to see how Bikaner’s markets keep its heritage alive while embracing the modern.
- End on a Sweet Note: The walk closes with Bikaner’s famous sweets — flaky, ghee-soaked fini and more. It’s a fitting end to a walk that leaves you with the real flavour of the city, both in taste and in memory.
